In early 2025, Sun Pharma flew 6,100 of their top-performing field reps to Singapore for the annual Star Club Awards. For many of the delegates, it was their first trip abroad. They landed at Changi, transferred 20 minutes to Marina Bay Sands, and spent multiple days moving between business sessions, awards ceremonies, and gala dinners — all without leaving one building. When one of the award winners stood on stage with his trophy, he later said hundreds back home were cheering the moment with him.

That event — the largest single MICE movement from India to Singapore in recent years — is not an outlier. CREDAI brought 1,100 of India's top real estate developers here for their 23rd national convention the same year. In 2023 alone, the venue hosted 2,440 events with 1.16 million delegates walking through its doors.

Marina Bay Sands is not just a hotel with meeting rooms. It is 1.3 million square feet of purpose-built event infrastructure — 250 meeting rooms, 24 ballrooms, Southeast Asia's largest ballroom, exhibition halls that hold 2,000 booths, and a rooftop 57 storeys above the city where you can host cocktails next to the world's largest infinity pool. All connected, all under one roof, all 20 minutes from Changi Airport.

This guide covers every venue, every capacity number, and every practical detail an Indian MICE operator needs to build a proposal around Marina Bay Sands.

Location and Access

Singapore connects to over 270 cities worldwide with more than 6,600 flights weekly. From India, direct flights operate from Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Kolkata — most under 6 hours.

Marina Bay Sands sits on the waterfront in the Marina Bay district. Changi Airport is a 20-minute ride. The Central Business District is 5 minutes away. Bayfront MRT Station has direct underground access to the convention centre — your delegates never need to step outside.

For operators coordinating multi-city arrivals, this is a significant advantage. Everyone lands at one of the world's best airports, and the transfer to venue is short regardless of whether they take taxi, MRT, or private coach.

Nearby landmarks that work well for off-site activities: Gardens by the Bay (walking distance), Chinatown (10 min), Little India, Orchard Road, and Sentosa Island (15 min).

Expo & Convention Centre

The Sands Expo & Convention Centre is the largest and most versatile exhibition and meeting venue in Singapore, spread over 5 levels with more than 120,000 square metres of flexible space.

Exhibition Halls (Level 1 and Basement 2)

The exhibition halls offer over 30,000 square metres of flexible exhibition space. Movable walls allow each level to be sub-divided into 3 separate halls.

These dimensions matter for exhibition operators. The 9.45m ceiling clears double-deck booth builds. The 33x18m column spacing means most standard booth configurations work without obstruction. And 12 KN/m² floor loading handles heavy machinery displays — relevant for auto and industrial trade shows.

Wi-Fi Infrastructure

The venue supports up to 40,000 devices on complimentary standard Wi-Fi simultaneously. For a 5,000-delegate conference where every attendee has a phone and laptop, this is a non-issue — a problem that plagues many Indian convention centres.

Hybrid Broadcast Studio

Marina Bay Sands operates the industry's first hybrid event broadcast studio within the convention centre. This is not a basic webcam-and-projector setup:

  • Two 6-metre x 4-metre right-angled LED walls (replaces green screen)
  • Plexiglass LED floor with floor projections
  • 3D stage with immersive backdrop, fully reconfigurable
  • VR, AR, and XR (Extended Reality) capabilities
  • Live studio audience capacity: 50 persons
  • Broadcast-quality live streaming with hologram functionality

For Indian operators running events where a portion of the audience joins remotely — pharma product launches, investor meets, annual conferences with regional offices dialling in — this studio is a genuine differentiator over any venue in India.

Ballrooms

Level 3 — Mid-Size Events (200-1,500 pax)

5 ballrooms and 6 junior ballrooms, divisible into 111 rooms for simultaneous meetings. Height: 6.1 metres. 5 supplementary meeting rooms (Angsana, Angsana Junior, Saraca).

This is the sweet spot for most Indian corporate events — your 200-800 pax conferences, annual sales meets, and regional leadership summits fit comfortably on L3. Each main ballroom + its junior counterpart gives you a plenary + breakout pair without moving between floors.

Every meeting room includes: flip chart, micro pantry, video conferencing, LCD projector with 96-inch screen, and high-speed internet. You do not need to arrange these separately.

Level 4 — Large Events (500-2,500 pax)

4 ballrooms and 6 junior ballrooms, divisible into 91 rooms. Height: 6.1 metres. Plus 3 garden walks as outdoor pre-function areas.

The Sands Grand Ballroom Foyer is a significant space on its own — large enough to host a 1,760-person banquet independently, or serve as registration, exhibition, and networking area for events using the main ballroom.

Rooms A through P within the Sands Grand Ballroom can be configured in 16 different layouts — from intimate boardrooms of 50 to the full 8,000-person reception.

The Sands Grand Ballroom hosted the Amway China Leadership Seminar in 2024 — 10,000 delegates across four waves. The ballroom was reconfigured within the same day from theatre-style for the business conference to banquet setup for the gala dinner with pyrotechnics. That level of operational flexibility matters when you are running a tight schedule with a large group.

Hotel Accommodation

Marina Bay Sands has over 2,500 rooms spread across three hotel towers, making it one of the largest hotel inventories in Southeast Asia under a single property.

Room categories range from Deluxe and Premier rooms to Club rooms with executive lounge access, and several suite tiers — Suite, Chairman Suite, and Presidential Suite. For incentive groups, the tiered categories allow operators to assign room types by delegate seniority without splitting the group across multiple hotels.

Group block bookings are available for MICE events — contact the sales team for negotiated group rates, especially for bookings of 50 rooms or more. Early confirmation is recommended during peak convention periods as inventory moves quickly.

Every room is within walking distance of the Sands Expo & Convention Centre via internal corridors and underground walkways. Delegates move from room to meeting hall without stepping outside or arranging external transfers — a significant operational advantage when managing large groups on tight schedules.

Outdoor and Sky Venues

Event Plaza

A dynamic outdoor event space at ground level with exceptional views of the Singapore skyline. Four configurable areas:

Day-to-night flexibility, cutting-edge AV technology, and customisable themes. Ideal for outdoor gala dinners, product launches, concerts, and team celebrations. Note: use of this space requires approval from Singapore's Urban Redevelopment Authority.

Sands SkyPark

57 storeys high, 200 metres above ground. The SkyPark crowns the three hotel towers and features the world's largest and highest outdoor infinity pool, lush gardens, and restaurants.

TerraceArea (sq m)Cocktail Capacity
South Terrace325150

For Indian operators: The SkyPark is your incentive trip closer. Nothing says "you earned this" like cocktails 57 floors above Singapore with the city spread out below. The North Terrace holds 100 more than the South at similar pricing — use this for groups above 150.

Unique Venues

ArtScience Museum

The lotus-shaped ArtScience Museum offers over 7,000 square metres of gallery space across multiple levels. Available for private hire outside museum hours.

LevelArea (sq m)Cocktail CapacityAvailable Hours

Level 4 (Cinema + VR Gallery)600300Subject to approval

The ArtScience Cinema on Level 4 has a unique 4-screen system — ideal for product launches, tech demos, and presentations that need visual impact beyond a standard ballroom screen. The VR Gallery on the same level adds an experiential dimension for pharma, auto, and tech companies.

Use case for Indian operators: Product launches (pharma, tech, auto) where the venue needs to signal innovation. A product launch inside the ArtScience Museum carries a very different weight than the same launch in a hotel ballroom.

Sands Theatre

2,148-2,183 seats across three levels. State-of-the-art technology, plush interiors. The Theatre Foyer (500 capacity) works for VIP cocktails, pre-event networking, and meet-and-greet sessions.

Indian Events That Chose Marina Bay Sands

These are not hypothetical. Indian companies are already running large-scale MICE programmes through Singapore and Marina Bay Sands.

Sun Pharma Star Club Awards 2025

6,100 delegates — the largest single MICE movement from India to Singapore in recent years. The annual Star Club Awards celebrate top-performing field teams and PMT performers across India and emerging markets. For many attendees, this was their first overseas trip. The event combined awards ceremonies, business sessions, and leisure programming across multiple days.

CREDAI NATCON 2025

1,100 delegates at Sands Expo & Convention Centre, September 11-13, 2025. India's premier real estate developer association chose Marina Bay Sands for their 23rd national convention. Speakers included Dr Shashi Tharoor, R Madhavan, and India's High Commissioner to Singapore. The event launched major industry reports and featured high-level networking among India's largest property developers.

Budget Benchmarks for Indian Operators

Based on industry data from Singapore Tourism Board and TTG MICE:

DetailRange
Per-person budget (Indian incentive groups)INR 75,000 - 1,50,000
Typical group size50-200 pax
Key sectorsPharma, IT, automotive, insurance, direct selling
Average trip duration3-5 days

Other Notable Events at Marina Bay Sands

Amway China Leadership Seminar 2024

10,000 delegates in four waves at Sands Expo & Convention Centre, August 29 to September 12, 2024. The largest post-pandemic incentive group in Singapore. The Sands Grand Ballroom was reconfigured within the same day — theatre-style for the business conference in the morning, banquet setup with pyrotechnics for the gala dinner at night. This demonstrated the operational capability that only a venue of this scale can deliver.

ICC Annual General Meeting 2025

120 delegates — the International Cricket Council's governance meeting. Smaller in scale but globally significant, demonstrating that MBS handles intimate high-security events with the same capability as mass-scale incentive programmes.

Sustainability Credentials

Marina Bay Sands is Singapore's only carbon neutral MICE venue — 100% carbon neutral meetings at no additional cost to the organiser. This matters increasingly for Indian corporates whose RFP processes now require sustainability documentation.

Singapore's MICE venues average 14.13 kgCO2 per attendee — a measured baseline established by STB across six purpose-built convention centres. 94% of those emissions come from energy. Marina Bay Sands goes further than the baseline with specific on-ground sustainability practices:

  • 5 aerobic digesters on-site that transform food waste into residual material
  • Comprehensive waste collection and recycling with dedicated multi-stream bins across the convention centre
  • Over 100 water filters at the convention centre to reduce single-use bottle consumption
  • Collaborates with contemporary artisans to create products from circular materials
  • Donated over 30,000 kg of unserved food to vulnerable communities through Food Bank Singapore, across 370+ charities since 2016

Singapore Tourism Board Incentive Programmes

Indian operators can tap into STB's support programmes to reduce costs:

INSPIRE (In Singapore Incentives & Rewards): Curated itineraries featuring dining, entertainment, and attractions — exclusive privileges for qualifying incentive groups. The programme is actively targeting Indian groups travelling between August 2025 and March 2026.

SMAP (Singapore MICE Advantage Programme): Streamlines event planning and operations for organisers, with exclusive benefits for delegates attending supported events.

Just Between Us Friends: STB's campaign extended to the business events sector, offering exclusive privileges for newly-secured Indian incentive groups.

Read our detailed guide to all three STB programmes. Contact STB's India office or your Singapore DMC partner to check eligibility. They can meaningfully offset costs — especially for first-time Singapore groups.

What to Include in Your RFP

If you are building a proposal for a client event at Marina Bay Sands, here is what to request from their sales team:

  1. Venue availability for your dates — MBS books out months in advance for peak periods
  2. Floor plans for your specific configuration — they will customise layouts based on your programme
  3. Package pricing — room nights + meeting space + F&B are typically bundled for large groups
  4. AV and production quotes — the in-house team (managed by Las Vegas Sands Corp) handles setup, teardown, lighting, sound, and broadcast
  5. Sustainability documentation — carbon neutral certification letters for your client's ESG/compliance team
  6. Hybrid capability — if any portion of your audience joins remotely, specify the Hybrid Broadcast Studio early
  7. Dining buyout options — KOMA, LAVO, Avenue can be partially or fully privatised for group dinners

The Bottom Line

Marina Bay Sands is not the cheapest venue in Singapore. It is, however, the most complete. Exhibition halls, ballrooms at three different scales, a rooftop 57 storeys high, a nightclub with a Ferris wheel inside it, a museum shaped like a lotus flower, and 2,500 hotel rooms — all connected by underground walkways and a single registration system.

For Indian MICE operators, the pitch to your client writes itself: one venue, zero transfers, and the most recognisable skyline in Asia as the backdrop. The 6,100 delegates from Sun Pharma and the 1,100 from CREDAI already proved it works. Your job is to make the numbers work for your client's budget — and with STB's incentive programmes actively courting Indian groups, the economics are better than they have been in years.
